The Summer Academic Program for Rensselaer International Students (SAPRIS) is a seven-week program to help our school’s accepted first-year students from around the world learn and use the stronger communication skills needed for college success. This optional program enables participants to settle into Rensselaer with a combination of coursework, on-campus living, and regional field trips. SAPRIS students participate in a four-credit course titled English for Academic Communication which is taught by Rensselaer faculty from the Department of Communication & Media. Participants have the chance to build connections with each other, returning students, Rensselaer faculty, and professional staff. When the first full semester starts in August, participants understand academic expectations, are better prepared to meet expectations, are familiar with the campus and region, and have an established network of friends and colleagues.
